About My Family!
Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Amber Askins. I currently live in Eastland, Texas with my husband, Jason and our combined 6 children. Yes we are a modern day "Brady Bunch" lol. I've loved animals and dreamed of working with them as a career all my life.
My journey with Yorkshire terriers started with Lucy. She filled our hearts and allowed Jason & I to feel as though we had a child together. We loved Lucy so much it wasn't too hard to convince Jason that she needed an Ethel. ("I Love Lucy" reference)
Looking for Ethel was a challenge I hadn't expected, due to cost. After another year we had decided to start to breed ourselves. This was a HUGE learning experience. Breeding even small time uses up a lot of time and money. However, with my chronic bulged discs in my back making it difficult to work it became more of an option for me.
I don't kennel any of my dogs. They are an extension of our family. The adults sleep with us. Unless of course we have a nursing mom. They tend to sleep with their babies until they are weaned. Even then, they all have full access. Nursing mothers have the privacy of their "nest" and the "Puppy Room" (Pictures to come, it's in progress). I free feed so there is no food aggression. However, that may have to change if "somebody" not naming names, doesn't stop overeating. LOL
